Gear

There’s a few things that we can’t live without when we go travelling! We love trying to capture the scenery, excitement, and adventure of our trips, so we’ve listed our main photography devices. We’ve also put down a few accessories that have made our travels SO MUCH EASIER! Some of these items have saved us so much hassle and money; they’re worth checking out to see if they can help you too.

Lastly, we’ve added a wish-list of future purchases! These are items that we’ve been thinking about that could help us in our travels, improve our photography, or simply give us something fun to do! We’ve included links to Amazon at the bottom of each item, in case anyone wants to buy one, or just wants some more information!

Accessories

PacSafe Backpacks

I was a bit skeptical when Malika recommended that we buy PacSafe backpacks. They cost a little more than other brands, and I wasn’t sure if we’d need them. I’ve since come to absolutely love our PacSafe backpacks, and you can’t put a cost on knowing that your possessions are secure.

The PacSafe backpacks have multiple locking mechanisms to prevent pickpockets. They also have slash-proof mesh to ensure that they can’t be opened with a knife. We’re yet to have anyone attempt a theft (thankfully!), but just knowing that our items are secure lets us explore without worrying.

The backpacks have plenty of room for everything you need for a day trip (they’re not hiking backpacks), and they also perfectly fit our MacBook Pros! There’s lots of padding to ensure that your items don’t get damaged with lots of travel and use, and being relatively light weight, they don’t add much to your carry-on luggage weight!

We highly recommend them!

BYD Tip:

A brightly coloured bag is MUCH easier to see in a crowd, or from far away. We picked red bags so that we could see them easily in case they were stolen. They also help if you get separated, because you can look for the red backpacks and quickly find your travel mates.

Wish List

Nikon D3400

Another camera (and tripod) would be great so that we can both take good quality photos at the same time. We’ve had a look around and this one seems like the best all-rounder entry level DSLR.

DJI Mavic Pro Drone

This one is a real dream! We’d love to have a drone to fly around and take aerial footage of the places we go to. There have been so many locations that we’ve been to that would look stunning from the sky!

GoPro Spare Battery

This will probably be our next purchase, along with a charging dock. The extreme cold in Norway drained our batteries really quickly, and it would’ve been great to have a spare while we were there!

GoPro Karma Grip Gimbal

Another dream! A gimbal would be great to stabilise our video footage. This one has very silent motors, which means you can shoot video without hearing the motors in the audio.
